Pakistan state TV sets up helpline for flood victims

PTV has launched "health line" transmission for flood victims. Briefing the media, Arshad Khan, MD of PTV, said the basic aim of "health lines" is to provide medical assistance to flood-affectees through phone call across the country.

People from across the country can call on toll free number 0800-11121 during 24 hours where doctors would be available to provide medical assistance, he added. He said that from 28 July, PTV had launched "Life Line" and this service has helped in saving the live of thousand of people in flood-hit areas.

The MD said PTV also launched programme "Dard-e-Aashna" to collect donations and shared other relief-related information with people. People are taking interest in the programme and announcing donation by making phone calls, he added.

He said PTV "Call for Life" programme successfully collected donation from the people for flood-affectees. He added, so far about 0.15 million people have called in the programme and donations gathered from the programme would be contributed in the Prime Minister Relief Fund.
