The CBA has awarded two bursaries to attend IBC in September. With a record number of entries this year there was fierce competition to be chosen to attend. After much deliberation the judges awarded a bursary to James Mutabeni Phiri of the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation. He is Principal Engineer for Planning and Development and is responsible for advising the organisation on technological trends, managing broadcast projects and evaluating bids for engineering procurement. His organisation sees the IBC as the last opportunity to identify and establish interpersonal linkages with suppliers and fellow broadcasters for a successful DTTM implementation.
The second bursary has been awarded to Ivor Greenway of Radio Montserrat. Since being damaged by an erupting volcano some years ago the station has working under inadequate conditions. As the Senior Technician, Ivor is involved in planning the move to a multimedia corporation and constructing a new radio and television facility.
The CBA will itself be present at IBC. Anyone visiting the exhibition is welcome to come to stand 10.A03 and meet CBA representatives. Members may use it as a base or just to rest their weary feet. Adam Weatherhead, Neil Dormand and Alan Downie will be present.
