CBA / Thomson Foundation Intermediate Television Production
- This course will be delivered online, in association with the Thomson Foundation, and will involve the use of e-mail as well as an active input in the course chat forum. Successful applicants will be expected to spend approximately 2 hours per week studying the modules and carrying out the various assignments. Trainees who complete the course assignments satisfactorily will receive a completion certificate.
- The course will involve the following modules:
- Discuss how television news has been affected by the 24 hour news agenda
- Understanding your audience
- Television writing skills
- Advanced interview techniques
- Deadlines, ethics and the growing importance of multi skilled 'Video Journalists
- Ethics and style guides
- There are also modules covering the growth of Citizen Journalists and how new media, in terms of social networking, blogs and websites, has impacted on traditional television journalism.
- Participants for this course must be working Television journalists, reporters and producers, already actively involved in Television journalism with a minimum of 5 years experience. The exercises will be challenging and journalists must be willing to participate in the Discussion Forum on a weekly basis.
- Participation is free for Television Journalists working for CBA Member Organisations; non-members can join but at a fee:
- Non-members from Developing countries: £250
- Non-members from Developed countries: £500
- Places for paying non members can only be confirmed on receipt of payment.
- The course will run from late July 2010 for 6 weeks.
